Ettore Sottsas was a world famous architect, interior designer, and furniture artist. Ettore Sottsass was born in Innsbruck, Austria- Hungary in the year 1917. Sottsass spent his childhood in Milan, Italy. His father was an architect in the city.
The artist went to school in Turin, Italy where he earned a degree in architecture. The artist then served in the Italian military.
In the middle of the 1950s Sottsass became famous for bringing the world of Pop Art and Modern Art to office furniture. One of Sottsass well received designs was that of a type writer. At this time he was employed by Olivetti.
The artist founded his own design firm, Sottsass Associati, which is still in business in London. The firm specializes in modernist architecture based on Sottsass ideas of design.
Sottsass is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art of New York City.
Ettore Sottsass passed away in 2007, he was 90 years of age.
