The artist will often base his works on different cultures around the world such as the Zuni culture, Chinese ginger jars, and Greek urns.

The artist used to paint on his own pots, but in the early 1970s his wife started to paint the Modernist imagery. She is also an artist and her name is Magdalena Frimkess. Magdalena Frimkess was born in 1930. She often paints characters from Pop culture including Mickey and Minnie Mouse or Popeye the sailor man.

In this clip we visit the artist’s at work in their studio:

The duo is based out of Venice, California.

What a great style of art that mixes the old and traditional style of vessels with newer items from current Pop culture. Another great example of a husband wife artistic duo!
