Michael Frimkess is a Native American artist represented the Zuni tribe renown for his wonderful pottery. Mark Frimkess was born in Los Angeles, California in the year 1937.
Frimkess spent his college career at the Los Angeles Institute of Art, which is now called the Otis College of Art and Design. Whilst in college the artist studied with another master maker of ceramic sculptures with an abstract approach, Peter Voulkos.
The artist will often base his works on different cultures around the world such as the Zuni culture, Chinese ginger jars, and Greek urns.
The artist used to paint on his own pots, but in the early 1970s his wife started to paint the Modernist imagery. She is also an artist and her name is Magdalena Frimkess. Magdalena Frimkess was born in 1930. She often paints characters from Pop culture including Mickey and Minnie Mouse or Popeye the sailor man.

What a great style of art that mixes the old and traditional style of vessels with newer items from current Pop culture. Another great example of a husband wife artistic duo!
