Martin’s family includes many artists. Her father is an artist named Knox Martin. Her mother works in the academic field.
America Martin was first inspired to draw after she saw a book about Vincent Van Gogh when she was 9 years old. Martin worked as an apprentice for 8 years to Vernon Wilson. Wilson was a professor at the Art Center College for Design located in Pasadena, California.
America Martin also attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Massachusetts.
