Shan Goshorn is a Native American artist renown for her baskets. Shan Goshorn was born in Baltimore, Maryland in the year 1957. A recurring theme in Goshorn’s work is human rights, and more specifically, Native American rights and social issues.

Shan Goshorn attended the Cleveland Institute of Art to begin her collegiate career. The artist wasn’t pushed to explore her Native American roots when it came to art so she quit the college. Goshorn finished her B.F.A. at the Atlanta College of Art.
