Norman Bluhm was an abstract painter. Norman Bluhm was born in Chicago, Illinois in the year 1921.
Bluhm began college with the idea of studying architecture. With the outbreak of World War 2 Bluhm was called to serve his country. Bluhm fought in the war ,and after it was over decided to pursue a career in art.
Bluhm studied in Paris, France at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. He also studied in Florence, Italy at the Academia de Belle Arte. Bluhm would spend nearly 8 years living in Paris.
In 1961 Bluhm would relocate to New York.
Bluhm did a series of paintings based on the poetry of Frank O’Hara.

Bluhm was a great example of American Abstract Expressionist painting. I enjoy the feeling and texture of drips that appear in his work.
