Robert McChesney was an American artist who worked as an abstract painter and assemblage artist. Robert McChesney was born in the year 1913.
McChesney attended the Washington University School of Fine Arts. He also attended the Otis Art Institute located in Los Angeles, California.
The artist helped to start a group of Bay Area painters that worked as Abstract Expressionists. McChesney also painted for the Federal Arts Project.

From a design standpoint its amazing how many shapes the artist was able to include in his work without giving the viewer the sense of too much motion and clutter. A great example of organized abstraction!
I enjoy the way he makes faces using very simple shapes a la the great American street artist Barry McGee.
