Olivo Barbieri is a contemporary Italian photographer who uses a tilted lens on his camera which gives the appearance that real people are small toys or dioramas.

Olivo Barbieri was born in Carpi, Emilia- Romagna, Italy in the year 1954. The artist attended the University of Bologna where he studied drama, art, and music.

Price range information: Works range from $3,000 to $20,000.

The artist has represented his country twice in the Venice Biennial.

Barbiera has also created a body of work as a filmmaker.

This technique of tilting the lens back is also called selected focus. By shifting the angle of the camera the sides, the bottom, and the top all are slightly blurry compared to the middle of the image.

What an interesting idea, images of people that are more like still lifes than portraits.
