Xu Bing is a contemporary printmaker renown for work with text, language, and communication. Bing also produces the traditional Chinese landscape.
Xu Bing was born in Chongqing, China in the year 1955.
Bing grew up in Beijing, China. The artist attended the Beijing Academy of Fine Arts where he earned a B.F.A. and M.F.A.
One critically acclaimed work was a large installation he named “Tiger Rug.” The work consisted of 500,000 cigarettes! This work is the third from the top in the gallery.
