Yoichi Ohira is a contemporary glass artist who began his career working in fashion design. Yoichi Ohira was born in Japan in the year 1946.
Ohira attended college at the Tokyo Kuwasawa Design School. Ohira then relocated to Venice, Italy where he enrolled at the Academy de Belle Arti. The artist studied sculpture.

Ohira remained in Venice where he found work with the world renown Murano glass company. The artist would eventually become the artistic director.
As director Ohira has made collaborations with some of the world’s greatest glass master artists. Both artists signed the finished work.
The artist finds inspiration for his work from traditional Japanese paintings and the modern bright colors he finds in Venice.
