Carl Andre is an American sculptor associated with the Minimalist movement. Carl Andre was born in Quincy, Massachusetts in the year 1935.
Andre attended the Phillips Academy of Art located in Andover, Massachusetts.

The artist fell into the public spotlight after going on trial for the death of his wife, artist Ana Mendieta. Medieta got into an argument with Andre, and fell to her death from his apartment. There were no witnesses. Andre was charged with second degree murder. Andre was eventually acquitted on all charges.
