Drew Struzan is a contemporary American realist painter renown for his posters and illustrations of movies. Drew Struzan was born in Oregon City, Oregon in the year 1947.

Struzan attended the Art Center College of Design located in Los Angeles, California. This campus is now located in Pasadena, California.

The artist grew up poor and often drew on toilet paper.

Struzan has designed music album covers and also book covers. Some musicians the artist designed covers for include the BeeGees and Earth, Wind, and Fire.

The artist was very successful in the 1980’s. He was designing an average of ten posters per year.

Struzan has also done work with the Franklin Mint, designing collector plates.

As a youngster growing up in the 1980’s, often times I looked to movie posters to get an idea of what a rental movie would be like. Some other poster artists that went on to successful art careers include Howard Terpning and Steve Huston.
