Blinky Palermo was a German abstract painter and printmaker. Blinky Palermo was born in Leipzig, Germany in the year 1943. He and his twin were adopted as infants.

His government name was Peter Schwarze.

Blinky Palermo passed away in the year 1977. The cause is unknown and mysterious. The artist was known to experiment with drugs. He died whilst on vacation in the Maldives.

The artist’s twin brother Michael is the sole owner of the copyright of Blinky Palermo’s work.

Below we tag along with our fellow art admirer James Kalm to view a group show featuring Blinky Palermo. Another highly celebrated artist whose work is shown is Japanese abstract painter Atsuko Tanaka. The work of Blinky Palermo is shown at the 4:10 mark in clip:

Palermo used many painting surfaces including aluminum, steel, wood, paper, and Formica. Palermo was just as varied in the materials he used including oils, acrylics, fabric, and tape. The artist was an avid printmaker as well.

Price range information: Works range from $10,000 to $1 million dollars.

The artist started using the name Blinky Palermo in reference an American mafiosi named Frank “Blinky” Palermo. Frank Palermo was known as a mafia fixer of boxing fights who was an associate of the Philadelphia Crime family.

In this clip we visit a show from 2016 that celebrates the last three full years of the life of Blinky Palermo, who passed away in 1977:

What an interesting life story! As with many artists that die at an early age, he is a legend in the art world.
