David Novros is a contemporary American abstract painter. David Novros was born in Los Angeles, California in the year 1941. Novros attended the University of Southern California.

After the artist completed his college studies he traveled throughout Europe. This trip was to inspire the direction of his art. Whilst in Venice, Italy Novros was drafted into the U.S. Army.

Novros was part of the Moon Museum. This project placed the work of six contemporary artists on a small wafer which was then placed on the moon by during Apollo 12. The wafer itself is only 3/4 inch by 1/2 inch. An image of the Moon Museum is the first image in the gallery.

Novros’ style of work is also called geometric abstraction.

The artist has also been a prolific muralist over his career.

In this clip we view an exhibition of work by David Novros from 2009:

Novros has been a recipient of a grant from the Guggenheim Foundation.

The artist often works in oils. On some works he also uses metallic paint.

What a great example of geometric abstraction. I enjoy the mix of positive and negative shapes the artist uses.
