Josie Papialuk was an Inuit printmaker and sculptor. Josie Papialuk was born in Issuksiuvit Lake in the year 1918. Some themes by the artist were animals, people, and humor.
The artist was associated with the city of Puvirnituq. He was part of the cities first print collection that was published in 1962.
The artist also liked to work with text. Papialuk enjoyed writing his name in the snow. On some works the artists name was the subject.
Papialuk was given an exhibition at the National Gallery of Canada, one of few Inuit artists to have this opportunity. The show was held in 2003-04.
