Peter Itukalla is a contemporary Inuit sculptor. Peter Itukalla was born in Puvirnituq, Quebec, Canada in the year 1954.

The artist began sculpting after being inspired by his grandfather when he was eight years of age. His family includes many well known Inuit artists including Joe Talirunili and Levi Qumaluk.

The artist is avid sportsman and enjoys hunting and trapping, two themes frequent in much of his work.

The carvings of Peter Itukalla are amazing for their animation and lifelike qualities. His seals have a special lifelike and fluidity of motion that is hard to match in comparison to other Inuit artists.

Another great detail are the mouths of his bears, many times with each tooth and mouth muscle depicted.
