Parlour had an extensive collegiate education. The artist earned a bachelor of arts degree from De Montfort University located in Leicester, United Kingdom. She went on to earn a master’s degree from the University of Reading, Berkshire, United Kingdom. Parlour went on to earn a PhD in Art from Goldsmith’s College located in London.

Selma Parlour is a great example of contemporary geometric abstraction. Her work brings to mind the work of the great Josef Albers. Another great aspect of her design is the fact she turns the square shape to become a cube shape with tremendous depth. Many of her canvases have a great sense of depth.
