Herold attended the Academy of Art in Hamburg, and the Academy of Art located in Munich. The artist also studied with Sigmar Polke.
Herold is best known for using unusual materials including mattresses, bricks, cavier, wood, and bottles.
Herold works with many mediums including acrylics, oils, ink, collage, resin, bronze, and watercolor.

What a great style of portraying the figure. His sculptures are very large but still retain the exciting curves found in the female figure. This is amazing considering in much of his works use wood with very straight edges.
