Tim Kowalczyk is a contemporary ceramics master working in a trompe l’oeil style. The artist is renown for making cups, plates, and various tableware items out of something that with a cardboard texture.

The artist has also transformed polaroid film to a work of art. Aluminum and tin cans are another often used subject.

Kowalczyk attended AAS Joliet Junior College located in Illinois. The artist went on to earn a B.F.A. from Southern Illinois University located in Carbondale. Kowalczyk went on to earn a M.F.A. from Illinois State University located in Normal.

Tim Kowalczyk is a highly talented clay master. Though he works in clay, his art seems very believable as a piece of folded corrugated cardboard with great texture and finish.

His polaroids transport the viewer back to the days when you had to wait minutes for a picture to magically appear!
