Lu Shoukun was a Chinese ink painting master. Lu Shoukun was born in Ghangzou, China in the year 1919. The artist’s father was a painter and scholar.

Shoukun moved to Hong Kong from China in 1948. The artist was a leader in the New Ink Movement that took place in Hong Kong in the 1960’s and 1970’s.

Lu Shoukun passed away in 1975.

Although he painted in an abstract style Shoukun enjoyed portraying the lotus flower.

His style of Abstract painting is compared to the artist Franz Kline.

Lu Shoukun had a fantastic sense of graphic design. His works that feature the red lotus flower with black abstract shapes are great examples of a minimalist brush work.
