Emil Bisttram was an American abstract painter. Emil Bisttram was born in what now is Radlac, Romania in the year 1895.
Bisttram attended many art institutions. The artist attended the Art Student’s League of New York City, Cooper Union, The National Academy of Design, and the New York School of Fine and Applied Art.
Bisttram was the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship.
The artist is part of many permanent collections including the New Mexico Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Emil Bisttram passed away in 1976. He was 80 years of age.
