Eugene J. Martin was an African-American painter working in an abstract style. Eugene Martin was born in Washington D.C. in the year 1938. His mother died giving birth to him. His father was a jazz musician.
After his mother died Eugene and his brother were placed in foster care. After running away on multiple occasions he was moved to a farm. He found an interestinghobby in painting the landscapes and portraits. The artist did not run away.
Eugene Martin attended the Corcoran School of Art located in Washington D.C.

In 2001 Eugene Martin had a brain hemmorrhage and a stroke whilst in the country of Belgium. The artist received therapy, and resumed painting until he passed away in 2005. He was 66 years of age.
Eugene Martin’s work is a great mix of abstraction and color. Martin also had a great eye for arranging shapes to give his work maximum movement.
