Auguste Herbin was a French painter with a modernist style. Auguste Herbin was born in Quievy, Nord, France in the year 1882.
Herbin attended the Academy of Arts located in Lille, France.
Herbin was drafted in service during World War 1. The artist was too short in physical stature to participate. The artist went to work in an airplane factory.
Whilst living in Paris he became great friends with Picasso. Herbin painted in the Cubist style for part of his career.

In 1953 Auguste Herbin had some health issues and his body became paralyzed on the right side. He then learned to paint on his left side.
