The artist rose to the top of the artworkd in the 1980’s. The artist and his partner Jack Early, created a series of works that had to do with gender politics.

Pruitt has often worked with very unique concepts. One work titled “Cocaine” had to do with the cocaine’s affect on spiders. The cocaine caused the spiders to lose the symmetry often found in their work.

In this clip we catch up with the great James Kalm to view an exhibition of work by Rob Pruitt:

The artist also did a work titled Cocaine Buffett. This work included a 16 foot long real line of cocaine that visitors were encouraged to try. This got the artist a great deal of publicity.

Pruitt is based out of New York City.

The artist has became famous for creating imagery with pandas. Pruitt worked with the well known brand of Jimmy Choo shoes to create a series of shoes and handbags with his signature panda.

Pruitt has created a larger than life sized statue of the Pop artist Andy Warhol. This statue is located close to the location of Warhol’s factory from the 1970’s and 1980’s. Below a closer look at this project:

Rob Pruitt’s style is very contemporary. The artist does a great job at questioning societies stereotypes. The artist’s work has always been a subject of controversy, much like Andy Warhol. I find Pruitt’s work to be just as contemporary as Warhol’s films or use of silver.
