LaRue is based out of Edgewater, Colorado.

Price range information: Works range from $500 to $10,000.

The artist’s process of creation is what she calls Neo-cartonnage. Her style is loosely based on the past Egyptian culture of mummies and rituals for preparing a body for burial after someone in power had passed away.

DeDe LaRue does a great job at capturing the energy and emotions of pets. Having seen her works in person the hair of the dogs seems to be a mop, but the artist is able to “freeze” the mop in place so that it looks as if the dog is actually moving! LaRue spent time working as a dog groomer, and this experience is shown at how lifelike the end result is.
