Ant Carver is a contemporary street artist renown for his portraits. Carver enjoys blending realism with abstract elements of graffiti.

The artist began making graffiti when he was 13 years of age.

Ant Carver is based out of London, England.

The artist has found inspiration from painters Lucien Freud and Francis Bacon.

Daniel Heidkamp is a contemporary painter and printmaker with a modernist style. Daniel Heidkamp was born in Wakefield, Massachusetts in the year 1980.

The artist is renown for painting the landscapes, interior scenes, and the figure.

Heidkamp attended the Boston Museum of Fine Arts where he earned a B.F.A. The artist went on to earn a M.F.A. from Tufts University located in Medford, Massachusetts.

Daniel Heidkamp is a fantastic example of modernist painting. The artist has a great sense of color design. My favorite works of the artist are his landscape skylines. Using minimal shapes and colors the artist does a great job of capturing the atmosphere of the urban landscape.

Some other artist with similar modernist styles of the landscape and interior are Jonas Wood and John Aquilino.

Amaranth Ehrenhalt is a contemporary painter, printmaker, writer, and sculptor. Amaranth Ehrenhalt was born in Newark, New Jersey in the year 1928.

Ehrenhalt attended the University for the Arts in Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and Pennsylvania University.

The artist is one of the few female abstract painters of her time. She is still producing wonderful works of art. Ehrenhalt is associated with the second generation of American abstract expressionist painters.

The artist finds inspiration from such past masters as El Greco, Picasso, and Pollack.

Amaranth Ehrenhalt is a throwback to the original painting movement of the United States, abstract expressionism. The artist blends an intriguing use of color with organic shapes to create works that have great movement and expression.

Peter Clark is a contemporary visual artist from Britain renown for his fantastic collages of animals. Peter Clark was born in the year 1944.

Clark attended the Manchester College of Art and Design. The artist has worked in the television industry as a graphic designer and illustrator.

Price range information: Many works priced between $1,000 and $10,000 U.S. dollars.

The artist is based out of London, England.

With his use of varied papers the artist is able to create works that have a great surface “feel” to them with great depth. Clark’s dogs seem so alive and ready to jump off the paper. His experience in the animation industry is apparent when looking at the liveliness of his animals.

Peter Clarke was a painter from the country of South Africa. Peter Clarke was born in Simon’s Town, South Africa in the year 1929. Clarke worked as a painter, printmaker, collage, and assemblage artist.

The artist also enjoyed writing poetry.

Clarke attended Michaelis School of Art located in Cape Town, South Africa where he learned to etch. He also attended the State Academy of Fine Arts located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Clarke lived on the coastal region of South Africa until 1972. At that time an apartheid law was put into place that restricted where a person of colored could live. The law was called the Group Areas Act. 

The artist worked as a dock worker after finishing with high school. He was given his first solo exhibition when he was 27 years of age in 1956. Clarke had more than 70 solo exhibitions during his career.

Price range information: Clarke worked in oils, ink, gouache, and watercolor. Most works priced between $10,000 and $50,000.

Peter Clarke had a great eye for creating interesting designs. Clarke excelled at painting hands and feet, two subject very difficult for most artists.

Verena Loewensberg was a Swiss painter and printmaker. Verena Loewensberg was born in Zurich, Switzerland in the year 1912. She came from a family of doctors.

The artist attended school in Basel, Switzerland at the Kunstgewerbeschule. After her collegiate career she took a job as a textile weaver.

Loewensberg is associated with the Concrete movement. This term was devised to separate her style of geometric abstraction from other abstract painters.

The artist found inspiration from two artists of the De Stijl movement, Piet Mondrian and Georges Vantongerloo.

Loewensberg worked gouache and oils. She was a prolific printmaker.

Verena Loewensberg passed away in 1986. She was 73 years of age.

Loewensberg had an excellent sense of graphic design. One could look at much of her body of work and think it was computer generated. Bold geometric shapes showing a great sense of movement!

Danika Naccarella is a contemporary First Nations artist. Naccarella represents the Nuxalk. She works as a carver, painter, and printmaker. Danika Naccarella was born in Vancouver, British Columbia in the year 1997.

The artist moved to Bella Coola where she discovered her love of Nuxalk traditions and art.

Naccarella is currently attending the Freda Diesing School of Northwest Coast Art. The school is located in Terrace, British Columbia.

The artist often paints in acrylics.

When looking at the wonderful style of this young artist, especially items like masks and spoons, the viewer gets the full impact of First Nations artist’s use of color. At a young age Danika Naccarella already has created a large body of work of carvings and also prints. Look for more great things to come from this artist!

Hijack is a contemporary street artist. Hijack was born in 1992. Hijack is the son of famed street artist Mr. Brainwash. The artist enjoys dripping paint and often uses interesting text in his work.

Hijack splashed onto the street art scene in 2013 after successful gallery showings in London, England. The artist is now based out of Los Angeles, California.

Hijack became known for a very popular street art series that used Cat stencils. The black silhouette is a signature sign of Hijack.

Hijack’s artwork is part of the skateboard artist series of MSP Modern.

Hijack has a great sense of design, especially for street art style where one painting can include many genres. The artist is great at portraying the figure and clothes. In addition the artist has a great sense of color ,and can create text in many different fonts and styles.

Hijack is a contemporary master of many genres, the key for creating great street art!

Cesar Legaspi was a painter from the Philippines. Cesar Legaspi was born in Tondo, Manila, the Philippine Islands in the year 1917. The artist was renown for his imagery of daily life as a lower class person.

Legaspi attended the University of Philippines School of Fine Arts where he studied painting and commercial art.

Price range information: Works range from $20,000 to $250,000. Legaspi worked in oils, acrylics, and pastels. He was also a printmaker.

Legaspi is associated with the Cubist and Neorealism movements.

Cesar Legaspi passed away in 1994. He was 76 years old.

Works by Legaspi may be found in the National Museum of the Philippines located in Manila.

Legaspi was a master at breaking the human figure into smaller organic shapes. I found his work reminds me of the Native American painter Oscar Howe. Both artists were great at capturing movement in the human figure.
