Cory Arcangel is a contemporary painter and mixed media visual artist renown turning images into 8 bit graphic forms. Cory Arcangel was born Buffalo, New York in the year 1978.
Arcangel earned a B.A. in music from the Oberlin Conservatory in Oberlin, Ohio.
The artist is based out of New York City.
As a youngster and whilst growing up Arcangel always thought of himself as a computer nerd.
Some of the artist’s most acclaimed works have taken imagery from Nintendo video games and modified slightly. One work titled Super Mario Clouds was made using cloud imagery from the popular video game.

Cory Arcangel is a very exciting contemporary artist. His work reminds me of the artist from France, Invader, but Arcangel’s style takes me back to my childhood more because he focuses on landscapes and feeling rather than creating a likeness. Both artists have created a great niche!
