Dennis Hollingsworth is a contemporary Spanish- American painter. Dennis Hollingsworth was born in Madrid, Spain in the year 1956. Hollingsworth’s style blends Pop art with abstraction.
Hollingsworth earned a B.A. in architecture from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California. The artist went on to earn a M.F.A. from Claremont Graduate School.
The artist’s looks to accomplish a feeling of three dimensions in his paintings. He accomplishes this by using a heavy and thick impasto oil paint.
Another interesting fact about his creative process, Hollingsworth doesn’t use paintbrushes. Instead the artist dribbles and pours the paint on the canvas and then uses unconventional tools to manipulate or remove the paint.
In this clip we catch up with our fellow artist and critic James Kalm. We pay a visit to the studio of Dennis Hollingsworth:

What I enjoy most about the work of Dennis Hollingsworth is that he has developed his own style of creating visually exciting works. Sure we have traditional oil paints, but the end result doesn’t use paintbrushes.
It will be interesting to see the next steps he makes as an artist. I would enjoy seeing this same style but with different mediums such as acrylic or enamel paint. Dennis Hollingsworth is very exciting artist to keep our eyes on in the future!
