The artist was always taking in new information and attended many renown schools of higher education including Ontario College of Art located in Toronto, the Art Students League of New York City, the Provicial Institute of Technology and Art, and the Central School of Arts and Crafts located in London, England.
Nicoll began her career as a landscape painter. She moved to abstract painting during the 1950’s.

Marion Nicoll was a fantastic abstract painter. I enjoy her use of color and use of geometric shapes. Her work reminds me of my favorite painter when it comes to hard edged abstraction, Shirley Jaffe.
