Ellsworth Kelly, the great Abstract painter and sculptor, passed away in December of 2015. The artist was renown for his bright colors and art which focused on geometric shapes.
Kelly served in World War 2. He then attended the School of the Museum of the Arts in Boston, Massachusetts followed by a stint overseas over at the École des Beaux Arts located in Paris, France.
Below we visit a great exhibition featuring Ellsworth Kelly that took place a few years ago with our friend and fellow artis James Kalm:
Kelly was 92 years of age.
Ellsworth Kelly inspired me to try draw plant leaves. A was looking online at some various leaf drawings and I was surprised the artist was Kelly. The artist often drew botanical subjects but never spent too much time on them, usually around half an hour. These works are great examples of his mastery of line and shape.
