Jilali Gharbaoui was one of the first Modernist painters from the country of Morocco. He was also a sculptor. Jilali Gharbaoui was born in the year 1930.
His parents were killed when he was around 10 years of age. He was sent to live at an orphanage.
Gharbaoui went on to study at the Ecole des Beaux Arts and the Julian Academy both located in Paris, France.
