Channa Horwitz was an American artist renown for her unique work with geometry, repetition, and the letter eight. Channa Horwitz was born in Los Angeles, California in the year 1932. Her father was an electrician.
Horwitz attended California State at Northridge earning a B.A. degree. The artist went on to earn an M.F.A. from CalArts.
The main theme or subject covered by Channa Horwitz is the representation of motion that takes place over time. Horwitz has used this system to create drawings, dances, and music.
The artist was based out of Los Angeles, California for the majority of her career.
Horwitz also enjoyed experimenting with different mediums including painting on the surface of mylar using a furniture paint.

What a great use of line. The artist reminds me most of famed grid artist Agnes Martin. I enjoy the work of Horwitz more than Martin simply for the fact that she has derived musical scores and dances from her process of creation.
